In this sector, to measure growth, I look at sales, not income. Companies can easily grow earnings by cutting costs dramatically, which hinders long-term growth prospects.

So, here's my analysis of IFCI (based on Yahoo's latest financials comparing quarter ended 6/30/99 with quarter ending 6/30/98.
Diluted shares rose from 26821998 to 29730582. So, based on that 10.844% increase in shares, net SALES would have needed to increase from 24395919 to 29730582 just to match the previous year's performance. But actual SALES for quarter were 40740191, which is an increase of 37% over last year's SALES with share outstanding adjustment.

37% top line growth before the benefit of the largest contract win in the company's history (by far) seems pretty good to me.
I'm not a cheerleader (see my previous posts), but I like IFCI's growth prospects.

Posted 08/16/99 and couldn't have said it any better today:

What do you think of the earnings downgrade this quarter? For a company that is in a hot sector and growing one would assume the earnings would be upgraded and then beat....not downgraded and then missed.

I have been telling this thread for over a year now that this company is not really growing like Joseph Kealy would want all of you to think......thus the continual earnings coming in flat in a range of .06 to .10 a quarter. Soon it will all catch up with them as they can't keep running from the truth and all you cheerleaders will
be head hunting for J.K. and Co.

Where is Oppenheimer when you need them?
