from C Kahn:

I agree that too many women will leave the home and their children to chase the almighty dollar in an attempt to gain fortune at the expense of the children when there is no need but greed.

In my particular situation, I chose to stay home with the children. It's a matter of priorities in some cases. I shopped in K-Mart, rather than up-scale stores. And vacations were at the local beach or park. So there were no plane tickets, rental cars, and hotels to pay for. My family came first, and still does. Both of my children graduated from college before I did. I only have a 2 year degree from a community college, but it's good enough for me.

I could now afford to shop at Gucci, Fendi, and other up-scale shops. But I still shop at Wal-mart, K-mart, Sears, and J.C.Penny. You know why? I don't feel the need to impress anybody. If I'm not good enough for them in K-Mart clothes, Then I'm not good enough in Gucci either. It's the person inside the clothes that counts. Not the other way around.

Getting back to the children, there is a good-sized Honeywell facility in the area that does provide an on site day-care center for the children of employees. I think it would be to many company's advantage to follow Honeywell's example. I'm not positive, but I think Honeywell even has a registered nurse on staff. I think most people would agree that this is a good idea. I hope it catches on more. C Kahn
