OT? You are exactly right. WHen Mother died, they tried to sell us a casket even though she was being cremated. They said that the people needed something to "focus" on during the service. I said, then rent us one for an hour, but he wasn't interested in that. The whole thing cost us under 2K but we did have to deal with some of that "greedy children" feeling. My mother was a pennypincher, though, and we knew in our hearts that the cheaper we got it, the prouder she'd be.

I purchased the casket for my mother's funeral and you should have seen the funeral director's face when I explained to him why I didn't want "high end" casket with the "triple seal", seems they were really concerned that a little critter or dirt might invade the casket. I explained quite graphically to him why that was better than the alternative<g>
