Electric City Corp. Announces Resurrection Medical Center Purchases EnergySavers
ELK GROVE VILLAGE, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 16, 1999--Electric City Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: ECCC - news) announced today that Ready Components Incorporated, a licensed distributor of the EnergySaver: State of the Art Lighting Control Technology, has sold the technology to Resurrection Medical Center for one of the parking facilities. This 120 Amp unit was a test installation that has turned into a purchase due to the product's performance. The test was to show a minimum of 20% savings in order to secure the sale of the EnergySaver. The actual results demonstrated a 28% savings on Kilowatt usage and demand charges. RCI is surveying the entire hospital for EnergySaver installations.

``Resurrection Medical Center was particularly interested in the EnergySaver because of it's potential to impact energy usage and demand. In a healthcare climate where costs continue to climb, advances in the new electro-technologies are attractive options especially when cost reduction initiatives are involved,' stated Bruno Giacomuzzi, Director of Facilities Services for Resurrection Medical Center.

``This sale marks the first relationship between Electric City and the healthcare industry. This industry could especially benefit from this type of savings; the overhead incurred in hospitals is quite significant and the dollars spent in lighting is a large portion of that cost. A 20% savings could provide the finding necessary for hospital programs,' Matthew J. Soltis, Vice President of Sales & Design.

The EnergySaver: State of the Art Lighting Control Technology is a proprietary energy management system designed to reduce the cost of lighting. These savings are achieved without a loss in essential brightness and without reducing the number of hours the lights are used.

Electric City Corp. (www.electriccityeccc.com), located in Elk Grove Village, ILL., is an energy technology and manufacturing company created to introduce this State of the Art Lighting Control Technology to the United States after 17 years of success in Europe. Mr. P$nk, UCOMA / UPC news today:

UPC, which floated on Nasdaq and in Amsterdam in February, will seek to tap the Amsterdam market again in autumn this year. UPC announced earlier this month it had filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the expected issue of new class B ordinary shares.

The issue will dilute the holding of UPC parent UnitedGlobalCom (Nasdaq:UCOMA - news), previously called United International Holdings, but its majority of the voting rights will remain.

Ahy thoughts or ratings on UCOMA/UPC yet? Mounting losses (UPC loses some $140M in 6 Mo, most of which are operating losses), new $1B equity issue in autumn planned.
