t2k, that's a tough call, my good friend. As taxman and myself debated several months ago, I thought DELL would be punished by the Street, for a period of approximately 6 months, for making some important money managers look bad, and this Q might be the Q that Dell returns to MFN status (sorry, that's "Most Favored Nations" status)! HWP had great numbers no matter how you slice it. They have been under going some sort of soft restructuring for the past few months and the Street might get excited that HWP is ahead of schedule and jump on the shares.

Either way, I suggest you pay close attention to these shorts tomorrow am. I'd be nervous even though you seem to be more interested in the learning process of shorting vs. really trying to make a profit at it. I believe DELL will undergo a breakout much like INTC is currently experiencing at some point before the year is out. The question looming is timing.

Just my 2 cents. I wish you luck as always, t2k.

Regarding the overall Market, t2k. I know we have talked about this at length before, but I'm in the mood to talk about this some more <ggg>! I am becoming convinced that the much anticipated "September Selloff" may not show up. As we have discussed before, the discounting of information that goes on today in the Market is lightening quick. I think many investors looked at August's earnings release as the perfect platform to sell into good news and beat the September blues, and that's why the Market is having such low volume sessions. Everyone thinks a September selloff is on the way, so folks jumped out in August on very positive earnings news, and now their sitting around waiting for September to get here so they can apply these cash proceeds when the Market sets some nice new bargain lows. Seems to make sense on paper, anyway <g>! The real test of mettle will come tomorrow with the CPI number. If it is Market friendly, we may very well see a rally heading into September. My senses tell me there is a lot of $$$ on the sidelines waiting to come back into the Market, and earnings growth doesn't seem to show signs of slowing down at all, regardless of the horror stories Gates & Company try to spook the Market with!

We shall see!!!
