Tejerk - Re: " Why would Gateway lock themselves into one chip company, knowing that its competitor is coming out with a faster chip. "

Gateway makes millions of PCs per quarter. Intel has demonstrated for YEARS that they can deliver the best CPUs in quantities of over >22,000,000 per quarter.

What proof does Gateway have that AMD's Athlon isn't just an engineering Slight-of-hand? That AMD can make more than a handfull of these? For all you and I know, AMD is hand-tweaking every lot and hand testing AthLATEs in engineering test PCs just to see if they are functional ?

And why would Gateway want to pay TOP DOLLAR to AMD when AMD has a sh*tty record of delivery and "unantcipated" manufacturing problems?
