I was telling Rambi about McKinley. He's a people person. As soon as the kids next door pile in the van and leave, he comes bounding over through the bushes. He runs in the house, announces his pleasance, and checks all the bowls for goodies, and second, essentials. He's not fat, so we worry if he gets enough to eat, because he's really hungry, and literally eats as much as the other four combined. But he seems to burn it off leaping around both yards. (He likes to stand on boards on the radial arm saw, while I saw them off. Handy, he is.) Then when the van comes home he runs up out path and down the driveway.

But a few days ago he didn't come around, and then he did, and he was limping. His right front paw ~ he could barely touch it down, so he was running on three. It was swollen to easily twice its normal size ~ we wondered if it was broken, but he wasn't screaming; still smiling. So we guessed he got stung. Bumble, probably, because we have tons of those and they fascinate the cats. At least for a while, until they pat down their last one ~ we were watching Fui shake one down in the yard years ago, and we did nothing, because she won't let you, and it stung her ~ Oh, she cried. Oh dear. No more bee-tapping for her.

She (Fui) was also a world-class Snake Hunter until she got one stuck to her paw pad, and she couldn't flip him off, and now she hates extension cords and hoses and wires and anything round.

But today we see McKinley is All Better.

Hey, don't lump me in. I have coffee where we still talk about weather and sports and not who is gonna do what, with what and to whom.

On the other hand I don't care what they do to each other. Actually those guys do run a good place, better coffee than the truck stop. And the atmosphere is almost romantic. Not that I've ever been in there.
