Mel, remember how you feel about good home food? (We. You and me.) I've been outside working, and a totally, totally, totally, original experience homestead smell has been diffusing out of the house into the evening air. "What are you making? God it smells delicious!" I yell at MJ. "Roasted garden vegetables and an oatmeal cake." So, I just want you to know, that if we get a spare bedroom, you can come and eat. I learnt that the veggies are rolled in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and spices.

Yah. They really are, or were, "manly things." My Dad had em too. But turns out, he was a leetle primitive. Oooooh, that might be rude. Course, then again, he mighta been a dolt. Anyway, the guy next door, where McKinley lives, is a cabinet maker. Our little town lets people make a living at home. And he has a big shop right down the driveway, and the door is usually open, and it's routers and sanders and table saws and all manner of stuff going on all the time. And he's usually the only one home, so if Mr People Kitty wants to have ANY company, he has to go in that shop to see Dave. Or come to see us. And being raised with four trampoline kids, I figure he's not scared of the saw. He doesn't like it when it turns on, but he knows when it goes off. He likes to be right where the action is.
