CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Nogatech Inc. here has introduced a
single-chip solution for applications using the Universal Serial Bus
(USB) interface that delivers full-motion video of 30 frames per
second (fps).

This makes live video in full-frame-rate motion possible on PCs,
laptops, Apple iMACs, palmtops, and personal digital assistants
(PDAs), the company said.

The USBvision NT1003 chip set also enables a throughput of up to
15 fps for VGA using Nogatech's proprietary video compression
algorithm. Along with zooming, panning, color control, and contrast
control features, the USBvision chip also provides audio capability
and still image capturing at 640 by 480 pixels. With flexible
connectivity choices, USBvision has both analog and digital
interfaces, and supports S-video and composite video.

"At Nogatech, we leverage on our relationships and exposure to
telecommunications and data communications companies, as well as
the whole consumer electronics market," said Arie Heiman,
president and CEO of Nogatech. "We have excellent relationships
with well known manufacturers of digital cameras, PC-TVs, and
set-top boxes."

The USBvision's small size enables its integration into the smallest
circuits, with constant attention to miniature design and
development. The USBvision can easily be integrated into the
smallest digital video cameras, PC TVs, PDAs, laptop LCD
monitors, set-top boxes, and cable modems.

The USBvision chip works by compressing the video data for
transmission across the USB channel, at a selectable, adjustable,
and optimal compression ratio. This is critical for quality video input
to the computer while maintaining the USB plug-and-play features
and compliance with the USB standard. Nogatech's special driver
then decompresses the data in the computer using minimal CPU
resources.

This makes the video available for standard-compliant presentation
on the computer screen, as well as for transmission across the
various communication channels according to ITU standards for
videoconferencing.

Engineering samples of the NT1003 are available for manufacturers
of products utilizing the USB interface.
