Michelle, I don't disagree one whit concerning California real estate.

My sister just bought a home in Palo Alto for 1.5M. Not a tear down, but not my idea of a home, either.

Your state has a blessing and a curse. The blessing is Silicon Alley. The curse, of course, is the valuations attributed to Silicon Valley startups, stock options, and young kids who are fully vested or just participated in an IPO, willing to plunk down a few million for their first home. And having their parents grateful to move their start-ups out of the house, to boot!

But you don't have to feel like you're priced out of the real estate market. I've read your posts for the last 6 months, and know that if your car works, you're mobile. Just pick an area where you want to live, where the price is right, where you get 10 foot ceilings, chandaliers, and 3 car garages, and move there.

You can get a job-job, anywhere.

Such is the blessing according to individuals with your acumen.

So, tip your box over, and get out of it!

Best regards,

Mark A. Peterson
