Mike: Thanks for the non TA input. <gg>

I wasn't aware of US West ripping out MOT infrastructure equipment, but I can recall PrimeCo pulling the plug on a huge chunk of MOT infrastructure. Also, Airtouch pulled out their MOT infrastructure equipment in LA last year. Further, MOT also had severe technical difficulties with their infrastructure in Japan last year. Guess who came to the rescue!!

How can MOT expect to compete in ASIC's for handsets when the chips for the infra cannot function properly?

Enough about MOT, how about their AT&T? The problems with inadequate capacity are being recognized at the service level? NXTL is another easy candidate for terrible service. You cannot even make a call to a digital call to a NXTL customer in certain markets. The only contact I have with my NXTL customers is the operator message, "Please try your call later."

If MOT had any wits about them, why would they be establishing a GSM overlay for their iDEN networks in NXTL? They have access to GSM & CDMA infrastructure licenses, but they are choosing to go with a non wideband solution to increase the capacity. It makes no sense.

Enough for now!!
