Jim - re: the way he ran CPQ I would have thought Rosen might have encouraged him to join the competition. Mike Lambert was not well regarded by many execs at CPQ but has been the architect of DELL's successful enterprise strategy since his move from Houston to Austin. Some say Lambert was hamstrung at CPQ, some say the culture at DELL was just right, but whatever the reasons for Lambert's success, Ben probably figured better to be sure that the CPQ playbook does not fall into someone else's hands again...
