Chinacat, you make me glad that I launched a wide open question at you. First, because your explanation was clear (even if it did reveal that I was about 90% wrong in my understanding of an RTOS). Second, using 'me' as a proxy for the investing public, it seems to confirm WIND's PR problem--a concise statement of their value proposition appears to be very hard to come by. Note that I am NOT saying that there is no value, only that in the absence of clarity there is a PERCEPTION of no (or murky) value. I, for example, assumed that WIND's RTOS caused Pathfinder to crawl over Mar's surface, and that it must therefore be functioning (in my clumsy phrase) as an interface between the analog and digital worlds. Your response (and that of Mark Brophy) clearly shows that I was dead wrong.
Which is perfectly O.K. of course--that's what these forums are all about. But at the end of the day, it seems to me that WIND needs to state the case for embedded computing in terms a reasonably informed investor can grasp, and to show why and how they are positioned to make money in that segment.
In all events, your reply was, once again, greatly appreciated. Thank you. Mike Doyle
