I don't- i have so many of them I've had to pile books in front of other books. I am the only person who knows what I have. I keep the children's bookcases better organized than my own. I bet we have 3-5 thousand books- I am not going to count them. i keep giving them away, but somehow there always seem to be more. I think they breed.

Our books are everywhere...most of the classics are in the study, arranged by subject and aalphabetically by author. The antique sets are in the built-in cabinets-- because they face the window and look pretty from outside, so I guess you could say I'm showing them off. One book case is all mine mine mine--- a shelf of women's writings, and one of poetry, and one of word books, and one on mythology, and one on plays. The cookbooks are in a large piesafe in the living room, and the books on opera, and composers and music history and theory are near the piano in a Welsh cabinet, and the real music is in a piesafe on the sunporch.. the bedroom shelves, which are on either side of the fireplace, are filled with whatever we mean to read this year, and a lot of Dan's history and political stuff. And each boy has his own case in his room. Well, Ammo has two cases and he still overflows onto the floor..
I love browsing people's bookcases..

I got tired of looking at all my really cool and exotic and expensive and class and interest-revealing books and packed the whole snooty into an out of the way upstairs closet.

And started living in the space instead.

I feel better.

And, frankly, since I never lie on SI, superior to you.

:o)

:o)
