Paul, sorry about the problems. Someone here on the Thread should be able to help you, but I am not software savvy enough to be that resource. Maybe RTev or one of our other lurkers out there may be able to provide some insight??? ANYONE OUT THERE THAT CAN HELP?

OT.

There's not really space on this thread to deal with such problems, but a couple things would be worth trying.

If you know someone who uses a standard ISP (one that uses the built-in dialing software), you could try dialing into that service. If similar problems don't happen with a real ISP, then that would help you determine if the problem is with AOL's software.

You might also try downloading and reinstalling a new copy of the same browser version that you have loaded already. You might even have another copy on one of the other CDs that came with your machine.

Just a couple spots to look at.... (and I'll go back to trying to load drivers for my soundcard... sigh.)

Hi Paul.

The only way I know of to get rid of the crashes with Win98 is to install Linux. My computer has been up without a reboot for 303 days and 7 hours. In addition, it is easily upgraded over the internet so that you always have the newest software and bug fixes, usually on the same day that they are released.

I am running Debian GNU/Linux, but for newcomers, I could suggest installing RedHat (http://www.redhat.com) or Mandrake Linux.
If you need any help, feel free to ask.

Cheers,

This may look like a troll, and smell like a troll, but I would hope that the startling difference in stability (303 days!) would cause some on this thread to consider a change for the better. :-)
