$4 Billion drop in Rhythms, Covad and Northpoint stock

In the last two weeks, they've gone down 30-40% amidst a general market drop in tech stocks. It's not because of company news, because all three are effectively moving on their plans. The networks are building out, operations are coming into shape....The only negative is ILEC competition heating up, with prices coming down, but that was always in the cards.

Tim,
I liked the line so much from your link I had to post it. I got quite a chuckle out of the understatement of the century. "The only negative is ILEC competition heat up.." <G>. That's a very big, "only."

It only takes one blunder in the thick to dissuade me from reading any further. From the dslprime link:

"AT&T is moving faster towards DSL than is obvious in most reporting. (Of course they presumably will use their expensive cable franchises for most consumer service, probably late in 1999.) Their own fiber backbone, along with the facilities obtained with the IBM Global Network, give them enormous capacity, while their acquisition of MFS gives them co-located facilities throughout many metropolitan areas."
