Applied Materials sees $0.61-$0.64 EPS in Q4

LOS ANGELES, Aug 17 (Reuters) - Semiconductor equipment maker Applied Materials Inc. (Nasdaq:AMAT - news) sees its operating earnings rising to 61-64 cents per share in the fourth quarter, company Chairman James Morgan said on Tuesday.

The Santa Clara, Calif.-based company also expected revenues to rise to $1.45-$1.47 billion in the fourth quarter, Morgan said in an interview.

[New orders were expected to be higher than the third quarter figure of $1.46 billion, he said but gave no further details.</i]

Applied said on Tuesday its third-quarter profit more than tripled from the year-ago period to $244.4 million, or 61 cents per
share. Revenues for the quarter surged to $1.43 billion from $884 million a year earlier.
