RF Micro Devices Introduces Two New Silicon-Based Dual-Mode CDMA Upconverters
GREENSBORO, N.C.(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 18, 1999--RF Micro Devices, Inc. (Nasdaq: RFMD), a leading provider of proprietary radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for wireless communications applications, has introduced the RF2638 and the RF2641 -- two complete dual-mode upconverters designed for cellular and PCS CDMA applications.
The RF2638 operates from a single 3.0V power supply to deliver +13dBm output IP3 with a conversion gain of 0dB. In addition to serving as a CDMA upconverter, the component can be used as a direct BPSK modulator.
The RF2641 also operates at 3.0V, delivering a +5.5dBm output IP3 with a higher conversion gain of 7dB. Designed for use as a general-purpose upconverter or BPSK modulator, the RF2641 supports dual-mode operation and features a double-balanced mixer.
Operating from 500MHz-2500MHz, both the RF2638 and the RF2641 are intended for applications such as PCS/cellular CDMA systems, PHS 1500/WLAN 2400 systems, micro-cell PCS base stations and portable battery-powered equipment.
Both the RF2638 and RF2641 are manufactured using an advanced silicon process technology (Si BJT) and produced in miniature MSOP-8 packages. Both devices are available for immediate shipment at $1.20 per unit in order quantities of 10,000.
The two new upconverters are part of RFMD's Silicon innovations(SM) line of micro devices for wireless telecommunications. They are designed as part of the RFMD(TM) PCS/Cellular CDMA chip set, which includes either upconverter, a transmit IF AGC amp, a receive LNA/mixer and a receive IF AGC amp.
