re: they will start producing Servers equivalent (or better IMO) to those announced today by Dogpaq.

There is a difference in the technology base for 8-ways - CPQ co-developed the 8-way chipset with Corollary (then Intel when Intel bought Corollary). They have a technology lead in this space and may have been able to exploit that with a higher performance design.

The fact that CPQ has produced a world-record 8-way benchmark which shows great scaling says that they, at least, have got it right. The benchmarks can be done up to 6 months ahead of product launch and typically are done a little ahead of the launch to build excitement for the product. We have yet to see a DELL 8-way benchmark.

I expect DELL 8-way servers to be good but they will be doing well to match CPQ's numbers. DELL may have run the benchmarks and then not published because they can not get over the 40,000 TPM-C bar without further refinement of their design.
