Just saw this on the news tonight: my school district is having a problem with their student scheduling program. It's old, obsolete, and unsupported, no way to fix it. Cost to replace it? $3 million dollars.

This is the sort of contract I would love to see Red Hat get into. Good for Red Hat - $3 million or so. Good for the school - quality software with source available. They can pay someone to fix it next time. Good for education - school districts across the nation can now save $3 mil each, and go buy football scoreboards... err... books.

Doug, you did you mean that they are doing this sort of thing, or that they should? I didn't read every word in the prospectus... I started skimming at the "web portal" part. :-) And I'm not aware of any current activities like this.
