This is a work in progress and should be edited by all the resident jokesters. SI MANUAL PURPOSE OF MANUAL-Included in the manual is background information on the decisions leading to SI conversion, the changes taking place, SI terms and their correct usage. NATURE Of THE MANUAL The manual is not intended as a training document, but as an information resource SI-SIMILAR BUT DIFFERENT No change occurs in the name, only in the site. Other changes which are of a more specialized nature will be examined later. UNDERSTANDING SI ADOPTION OF SI IMPLEMENTING SI-SAFETY: A MAJOR CONCERN The perceived risk to safety and resistance to SI conversion are greatly reduced if everyone has time to become familiar with SI and is convinced of its advantages and simplicity. The idea is to think SI. GUIDELINES FOR ADMINISTRATORS AND DEPARTMENT HEADS IN IMPLEMENTING SI*-The instruction should cover the following topics: A brief discussion on how SI came into being, who developed it, and why it is necessary. Here it is important to emphasize that the new SI is not just a change for the sake of change. (Care should be taken, however, not to imply that instant utopia will result on the day when the change is completed).
