Marshall - I agree. I was disappointed in the interview. It did not seem to have a purpose other than general exposure.

Nothing significant or new was announced. It lacked a "grand plan" to move the company forward from where it is now. There was no evaluation of the future of Internet IPOs, or their relationship with Alta Vista, Dell, Gateway, Compaq, iCast, etc.

Marshall --

I've long appreciated your perspectives on this thread. And your most recent post was DEAD ON correct.

But if all we are going to do is incubate than I don't think we need AV and ICAST is probably costing way too much. And what are we going to do with the Gateway and Dell money?

I hope/believe DW missed the point or was mistaken in his statement that the primary business model is IPO incubation/Venture financing. If that's the case, then one can assume the only reason they bought Alta Vista was NOT for some higher-level strategic purpose, but simply as an arbitrage play in the next 12 months to spin it off as an IPO. And, how does Icast is far too ambitious/risky to simply spin it off as an IPO, no? Maybe DW's just giving us the ol head-fake (you know, the ol' "we ain't splitting the stock/whoops:stock split!" maneuver).

Nice collection of points to consider and thanks for posting.
