Internet Tech bellwether America Online (NYSE:AOL) announced that
its membership now stands at 18 million subscribers. AOL reported
that it took 125 days to reach the level, and likened the growth
rate to that of last summer, when it took 133 days to add 1 million
to reach 13 million subscribers. But while AOL's membership growth
rate has slowed somewhat during the summer months (which was
expected), its usage metrics continued to impress.

Currently AOL has 1.1 million simultaneous users vs. 718,000 a year
ago. Over 67 million e-mails are sent per day vs. 34 million a year
ago. Over 475 million instant messages are sent per day vs. 283
million a year ago. Additionally, more than 50% of AOL accounts are
online at least five days per week--29% are using the service
everyday.

AOL's President, Bob Pittman, said that the company plans to
continue its momentum with the launch of AOL 5.0 in the fall. AOL
shares were up on the positive news, closing higher by 2 9/16
(+2.70%) to 97 1/2.

In other tech news, the number #2 online brokerage company, Etrade
(Nasdaq:EGRP), announced that it would team up with Reuters'
Instinet to provide online investors access to after hours trading.
Beginning in September, Etrade customers will be able to trade
between 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM EST. Etrade shot up on the news, closing
up 3 3/8 (+12.56%) to 30 1/4.<<

Mark,

>I'm long 2700 shrs. at the moment and plan on scaling in again on two closes above 106...when Amzn
makes it to and breaks through 126 on decent volume or closes above this area twice; i'll scale in more
again. Over 140-142 then your toast! this will be the last time i give direction for amzn until these targets
are hit....<

Could you please explain what you mean by "scaling in again"....does that mean you'll be buying more AMZN when the above happens?

Thanks!

Libbyt

Mark, one thing I have learned is not to be stubborn to the point my broker has to come get the keys to my front door! I am a long at heart but it takes big beans to short these and that's the fun of it!

I've had my share of good fortune and am thankful for it all! One "rush filled" week makes life interesting!!

Sabre!
