Catcher, I don't believe MSFT owns any interest in GMST. They do have an agreement on MSFT's use of GMST's EPG (Electronic Programming Guide) for distribution in MSFT's settop box configuration for interactive services.

Mind you, I'm still soaking up the facts on GMST. NY Stew and Paul are really the ones with the answers over here and they'd be much better suited to address some of your questions in the near term, or at least until I can get more familiar with GMST's story. I like everything I've seen thus far, however.

Catcher,

From LT on Yahoo:

I am too cheap to register to be a member of the Silicon Investor boards. A question that was posed was. "does MSFT own any GMST?"

Not directly, but they own 7% of Thomson, which in turn owns less than 7% of GMST.

If anyone can cut and paste this to the SI board, please feel free to do so.

MS, Alcatel, DirecTV and NEC each took a 7.5% stake in Thomson. In addition, Gemstar has a JV with MSNBC called NewsGuide.

Stew
