Norton SystemWorks [UNPLUGGING YOUR BROWSER - 08/18/99]

"UNPLUGGING YOUR BROWSER

Some Web sites download plug-ins to your hard drive that add
functionality to your Internet browser, such as support for special
video and audio effects. Plug-ins are often useful and speed browsing,
but you might install a plug-in for a Web site and then not visit the
site again, or if you do, a newer version of the plug-in may be
available.

To check and eliminate unwanted plug-ins, first disconnect from the
Internet. Then click the Internet Sweep tab in the CleanSweep 4.5 main
window. Click the Plug-in Cleanup button, and scroll through the list.

All plug-in files color-coded green are not essential to the browser's
operation and can be removed safely. Yellow plug-ins are included with
the Web browser, and you should use caution when deleting.

If Safety Sweep is on, you won't be able to select yellow-coded files,
only green files. To turn off Safety Sweep, close this dialog box and
click the Options tab. Select Configure CleanSweep 4.5 and then the
Safety Sweep tab. Check off to be able to select yellow-coded files
and return to the Plug-in Cleanup button.

Put a check in the box next to each plug-in you want to delete, and
click the Clean (Alt-E) button to delete the files. Click Next, and
CleanSweep 4.5 will ask if you wish to confirm the deletion of each
item."

[i followed their instructions and just 'cleaned' the green coded files. got rid of three unnecessary plug-ins taking up 200kb of space.]
