I love it! A very aggressive move and the timing is pure Cotso - Do It Now. Not at all clear to me that Robertson Stephens (sp?) are right. They are not looking at the dynamics of the thing. In the coming quarters E*Trade are looking to bringing in a broad spectrum of players ranging from the Merrill, Lynch crowd to the dynamite traders and it looks as though they might.

Yes, longer run ETrade will do exceptionally well. They have been innovative and quick thinking. Instinet and reduced commissions for the active traders is designed to attract investors with sizable assets and trade frequently.
it may also help their underwriting ability. this move will throw the sector into a flux.

of late the Etrade site response time and reliability have improved. anybody feeling the same?
