Re Intel at new high:

Could it have to do with AMD hoisting the white flag at the low end and entrenched skepticism that AMD will ever pull off a successful ramp with Athlon?

pomp,

Good morning! We're back from vacation and it's nice to be on-line again!

Somebody knows something and is expressing that belief by buying the stock. If Intel/Rambus was really as weak a partnership (virtually failed to hear some tell it) Intel would not be at 79 bucks a share, up 33% in a few months. The real world does not work that way. Something is brewing and, probably, we will hear about it in two weeks.

I know you're talking about Intel with the "somebody knows something" statement, but I was thinking the same thing this past week wrt Rambus. We haven't collapsed as some of our resident predicters have predicted. (Of course, the doubters will also point out that we haven't advanced either, which I can't argue with.) But given the uncertainty of some of the issues, I didn't expect we'd take off yet. I certainly wouldn't have been surprised had they been right, but everytime we dipped (at least in the last week, when I could finally get on-line again), someone stepped in to buy. And I doubt it was all Stuart <G>. IMO, someone's placing some significant bets for upside moves, balancing out the 7M short shares that Stuart predicted.

Good to be back.

Dave

Re: Something is brewing... Thoughts anyone?

Probably not what you want to hear, but if Intel unlocks itself from a rambus only strategy, it might be worth $20-$40 in ASP over the next year due to regained pricing advantage. That might be a factor in the Intel price gains.
