Chuzzlewit, RE: I've been all over Dell's financials. I read them and reread them last night, and again this morning. It is impossible for me to find anything negative in the report (and believe me, I looked hard)!

Well, I looked and came up with a couple of things, although it gets really nit picky. First, A/R days grew 1 day to 36 days. Granted, it is still below the year ago number, but I did tell you that it was nit picky <gg>. Also, the entire amount of the upside surprise in earnings can be explained by the increased margins on notebooks as a result of the screen shortage (DELL didn't lose any sales because they had an adequate supply, but because others did not have supply, DELL didn't have to cut prices as much). This is not likely to be a recurring event.

Of course, it is very easy to turn the second 'negative' into a positive.

Chuzz:
Communications from the outback to the Mother Ship are intermittent due to phone problems ( road construction) nearby. So I often cannot reply for days but keep writing anyway(G)
Is Dell up yet??

Peace reigns again after long last in the pastures of the great Dell herd following the Mother of all battles outside Austin city limits.
For 6 months marauding bands of bears have plagued the herd
by throwing excrement over the fences, trampling the best grazing areas, and wounding those who stood too close to the margins of the fields.
But on August 17th, a concerted attack organized and lead by the Dell tribal leaders struck terror in the hearts of the bears who were running low on B&**^%t anyway. They ran off in desperation, left only with their customary small bags of gold and little else, to attack the homelands of others who appeared less able to defend themselves.
No one can say the bears were not warned, since Dan Niles(a friend of the herd) had given them fair warning that a day of reckoning was near.
