Horizon Awarded EDC Ecuador Installation
HOUSTON, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Horizon Offshore, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOFF - news) today announced EDC Ecuador, Ltd. has signed a letter of intent with Horizon Offshore Contractors, Inc., for the transportation and installation of a platform facility off the coast of Ecuador. Installation will occur during the first quarter of 2000. Horizon will utilize the 800-ton derrick barge ``Pacific Horizon' as the primary work vessel.

``We are very pleased to have been awarded this project,' said Bill Lam, President and CEO of Horizon Offshore. ``This represents an entry into a new market with a significant project that clearly demonstrates the abilities of our equipment and personnel. We will continue to pursue additional international opportunities, focusing primarily in Mexico, Central and South America, and West Africa.

Nice move? 45% in 7 trading days? Just meandering along.<vbg> I'am clueless. The technicals, of course, have that "too much, too soon" look about them.

No real news to support fundies. The stock really doesn't seem to be reacting to the earnings last Wed. It jumps and then sells off for three days. Then the new move starts yesterday. This has to be institutional buying and if they are accumulating on the earnings, their timing is lousy. Makes me think that there may be good news on contracts coming. Yesterday was one thing but today's move in the face of an OSX sell-off is impressive. I think you're right about a re-tracement below 6. I've got a big position and I may lighten up here.
