Matsushita penetrates Indian market with latest digital products

INDIA — The country's electronics shops will soon put on offer some of the latest Panasonic brands from Matsushita, as the firm announces plans to market its products to India.

Y Ozasa, from Matsushita's TV and audio department, said the company's three-pronged marketing plan involves the launching of a new range of products, mostly digital devices such as digital cameras, portable and desktop DVD and VCD players. These models feature the latest technology, according to the firm, and some are the smallest and lightest in the world at present.

Matsushita will also be penetrating the TV sector. For the color TV market, the company is launching the T (Tau) series premiums range in 21-, 25-, 29- and 33-inch categories. The 29-inch and 33-inch units will use 100Hz flicker-free technology. Also set for release is a 100Hz plasma TV, as well as video projection systems.

Three models from the firm's digital Sophia series will be distributed, namely 21-, 25- and 29-inch units with an advanced MX6 chassis, auto volume leveling and NICAM German stereo.

The audio products to ship to India will include a range of mini-component systems with VCD players, as well as low-cost radio cassette recorders.
