Jim, Re:"Intel is applying pressure to Taiwan mobomakers."
That argument is specious. First of all there will be other mobo's from other companies in the ensuing weeks, not just three. To quote from AMD's website:

"AMD is working with leading third-party chipset suppliers, including VIA Technologies, SiS, Acer Laboratories, Inc. (ALi), Trident, and others, to assist them in delivering solutions optimized for AMD Athlon processor-based systems using Slot A infrastructure. AMD is also working with key motherboard vendors, including Asus, Biostar, FIC, Gigabyte, GVC, and Microstar, to provide optimized motherboards for the AMD Athlon processor. Additional motherboard suppliers are planned for 1999."

But then how can you expect large numbers of motherboard producers to make Athlon mobos when there will be so few Athlon chips available in 1999. Do you think they are that stupid? Three companies alone should be more than able to handle the demand. But then again I guess as AMD has proved so many times in the past, profit is of no concern.
