CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Aug 17, 1999 (BUSINESS WIRE via COMTEX) --
GensymCorporation (Nasdaq:GNSM), a leading provider of intelligent
operations management software and services, announced today the
availability of G2 Fermentation Expert 2.0. Primarily targeted for the
pharmaceutical, food, and beverage industries, G2 Fermentation Expert
helps increase yields and reduce variability of fermentation processes
through its advanced modeling and control capabilities.

"Fermentation is a difficult process to control due to the variability
of raw materials, cultures, and process conditions," said Bob Moore,
Gensym's president. "This variability can adversely affect quality and
yields and lead to additional processing, schedule disruptions, and
lost production. Fermentation Expert helps maintain high levels of
quality and yields by utilizing process measurements, historical data
and intelligent software technologies - such as neural networks, fuzzy
logic, and rule-based reasoning - to provide operators with real-time
analysis of fermentation processes."

Fermentation Expert 2.0 enhances the accuracy of its fermentation
models by using optimization techniques together with neural networks
to automatically determine the best models. Fermentation Expert uses
its models to provide real-time estimates of key process conditions
that can only be physically measured off-line, such as concentration
levels for product and byproduct. The models also help ensure the
accuracy of probes and instruments through sensor validation
techniques. Version 2.0 provides improved visualization of fermentation
conditions and faster setup of an application through an enhanced user
interface.

"Our introduction of Fermentation Expert in early 1998 was a result of
our continued commitment and success in the pharmaceutical industry",
added Dr. Moore. "Gensym software has been used by 18 of the world's 20
largest pharmaceutical companies for a variety of advanced
applications, including the modeling and control of manufacturing
processes. By closely working with these companies, we identified
fermentation as an area with excellent payback potential through the
application of Gensym technology. Several major pharmaceutical
companies are now using Fermentation Expert and other Gensym software
for managing their fermentation processes. Their return on investment
for fermentation applications is typically less than one year. With the
release of Fermentation Expert 2.0, we have significantly strengthened
our ability to help our customers improve their fermentation
operations."

Support and Pricing
Gensym's G2 Fermentation Expert 2.0 is typically bundled with
installation and training services. Gensym also offers a Remote
Software Support option as part of customer support services. Remote
Software Support enables Gensym's support staff to view and interact
with a customer's onsite Fermentation Expert installation. G2
Fermentation Expert is supported on Windows NT and UNIX platforms and
is priced according to configuration and functional options.

WOW!!!

....they only lost about 3 times as much this year as last year on decreasing revenues and increasing cost of business...and the accumulated deficit is only $40,566,508. The company is in bankruptcy ...and THE bod has preapproved a reverse split.

PUMP THAT PUPPY!

Lazarus .... some pple have no shame.
