Yes I do work in the SAN industry. From my vantage point I get to see many of the FC network components (from the ground level so to speak), including the FC switches in the space. Most of my experience involves hands on work with the products. I also consult on SAN designs, so many of the early customer SAN implementation plans are something I get engaged in.

You ask right off about other companies in the FC network sector, such as QLGC and EMLX. So if the parallel holds that Brocade is quickly becoming the Cisco of the FC Network space, then EMLX and QLGC both share a large portion of the FC host interface market. In other words some company needs to make the boards (called Host Bus Adapters or HBAs) that users put into their computers to connect them to these new SAN networks. QLGC and EMLX are two of the most prominent players so far. Another company that provides popular HBAs is a company called Jaycor/JNI (I'm not sure that they are a publicly traded company however).
