Actually, this was not a good day for the markets, overall. The few bright spots shone very brightly, though. Dell was really overdue, as Frank points out. I believe he used the metaphor of an inflated inner tube held under water. That's what the 3+ point pop represents.

Let's hope that the overall market looks better tomorrow. Perhaps INTC can recover from its (actually, miniscule) drop of today and regain the upward path.

Turkey has really suffered greatly. Some of those market profits could be diverted over there in the form of aid. Those in the thread who hold shares with very low basis cost should consider donating the shares themselves. The charity will not incur a taxable event in selling them so the whole gift gets utilized and you get the whole write-off. My broker did not charge me a penny to make a transfer of shares to one of my favorite charities. Actually, the disaster in Turkey is just giving me a chance to pontificate about charitable giving and how best to do it. I beg your indulgence.
