But you've missed the "deadly embrace", Chris. The telcos are
themselves dependent on the grid, which is dependent on the
telcos and so on.

If the grid goes down for, say, a few days, the battery backup of
the telcos will be exhausted in enough different places so that
it will no longer be possible to restart the grid without
communications, which can't be restarted without the grid . . .
