Anybody see the ABC news this evening? The last bit was on biometerics and welfare in SOUTH AFRICA. I could,'t make out whose equipment it was. The money and the ID units are in armored cars and a something like a motor home on a ford ranger.
The announcer did say that biometerics has been tried in the US but people didn't like it because of big brother what is his name ratman or milkman some sort of man anyway.

To the Yahoos and anyone curious about IDX and Africa...

This is old news to a few long, long timers. Notice the date in the URL. ABC basically described this:

Finger print recognition via the Identix Touchsafe TS500 scanner gives positive identification without human intervention, whilst at the same time eliminating the fraudulent use of amputated fingers i.e. the
'death finger'. Our development of this device involved re mounting the scanner to improve finger registration; tuning to eliminate imperfections in the 'print'; matching against multiple templates to improve the acceptance rate (eliminating false acceptance and false rejection) and selection against particular parts of the total database to improve the speed of operation.

They (ABC), also took a shot at the American association of fingerprints and criminal activity. They showed one guy saying to the effect... no money without my finger... Also, ABC claimed 0% fraud if I remember correctly, somebody correct this if not true.

So, if this is how the timing works out... we might see something about MOT and IDX in three to four years... I know...cheap shot...;)
