Float don't mean crap Jan. That's one of the weakest arguments on the net.

Do some research on short interest stocks. What you'll find is an awakening. Stocks that have a large short interest have that for a reason. Those stocks also eventually succumb. That's fact.

To hell with Janus. If I owned 1/4 of the outstanding shares in AMZN, (1), I wouldn't be adding to my position, (2) if I didn't sell this at or near those all time highs, based on fundamentals alone, I would fire the manager for not doing so.

I don't give a darn about a target price. I've been at this long enough that he could have said 300 and that don't mean a thing.

BTW, who was selling all those shares from the 250 range down to 85???
Let me guess, the uniformed non-institutional investor! You need to check the turnover rate of institutional ownership. I bet it's off the charts!!

I got it now!

Sabre!

Hello? it's a smart call by Blodget. As far as Amzn is concerned, he sees:

1. 64M shares in the float
2. of which Janus owns more than 16M; (the total instituion ownership is about 70% of the 64M)
3. Short interest is over 15M.
4. He targeted $150 this time,(from $110-yesterday's closing) and giving a good/popular X'mas reason. It's only a $40
call(unlike the $400 price target in 11/98).

Jan,

Your comments are accurate and make perfect sense. The compolaint i have with Blodget is he is a momentum analysts whatever that may be. Merrill's basic philosophy is conservative (at least it use to be) with the buy and hold strategy. Blodget does not fit their style.
