HP is in a pretty good shape, they have something else to sell their customer before McKinley.
For Intel, given the pathetic shape of the IA32 design status, this prototype is the best hope for getting some headlines for another year so. The K7 server performance will require Intel sell a large amount of FUD along with the story on why Merced is such a good deal.

kap, As a prototype it will get bought and beta'd in small amounts. As a bad chip it will get fewer buyers? I suspect it is nod bad, just not as good as they had hoped. Complex task to make it work fast.
