ROFLMAO - "Dueling Banjos".
Did you ever see the movie, "Deliverence"?

Listen Cheeky, I'm not saying that there will definitely be problems with the Internet.

Y2K, as it relates to the Internet, is actually something I never thought about over the past 2-1/2 years.
I never understood the complexity and "potential" failure points until just recently.

You are SURE that the Internet will be Y2K AOK. I'm just not sure. I don't know. It's something to ponder though.

Especially in light of what happened in Toronto last month with phone system [and Internet] being partially down [affected 100,000+], and the problem stretched from Vancounver to Ottawa [around Toronto primarly].

And Chicago last week, with MCI. Internet was down for some of these people, and for some time. Some ISP's may go out of business. My g*d CBOT [Chicago Board of Trade] had part of their electric trading system down for 5+ days. It hit their system in Paris, London ... and I can't remember where else.

And you don't thing there's the "possibility" of Internet disruption??

I hope there isn't. But, recent events make me unsure.

It doesn't matter technically where failure points are. Whether it's Y2K related specifically or not. Recent events have just awakened me to a vulnerability with the Internet that I never thought of previously.

Cheryl

P.S. If you want to "argue" about the Toronto phone outage and ramifications, I'll be glad to post the newspaper copy and links. Same with MCI phone problems. I'd rather not because it's getting late, and I want to go to bed. But, if you want me to ... I'll post the details ... again. I'd rather not. Your choice.
