I was charged a fee, if I recall, it was the same fee (commision) I would have been charged had I outright traded those same number of shares. I was surprised but didn't look into it.

As far as why I didn't tender my shares, I figured that I had little to lose and kept the hope alive that another offer would come through. In hind site, I should have tendered the shares as those people receive their funds about 1 month earlier and I was stuck paying Margin interest on funds that I didn't have access to while the FORE had stopped trading.
