goldsnow, I considered what 'setup' might mean, but I didn't really find out. From your further comments I assume you think I didn't pose the question totally honestly. Not true!

Simply I thought this spectrum-leaping style of the article's author was strange and thought somebody should give me advice. I also asked my Russian colleague but he declined comment (like he always does when political questions are discussed). His wife obviously tried to give me concise explanations on the situation, only I can't understand her signs...

I agree that the political motives of the reformists aren't pure, neither are their personal histories. As well for the assumption that opportunism is obviously the strongest motive of Russian politicians today. However imposing the list of big names in the 'centrist' movement is, I still couldn't find out what unites them. Also I think 'As you know so well Reformists are former communists....' is equally true of the centrists. True?
Nobody but those communists, who still insist on being communists could praise the pre-Gorbachev past and stop further 'reformism' as a political practice.

A possible rise of the centrists can only lead to the absorption of the former reformists (coupled with a the disposal of the person, Yeltsin).

Everything written above is pure phantasy with the request for advice from somebody who seems to have followed Russian politics more constantly than I have.

Regards MNI.
