is there a point of pain where SI will acknowledge that 'beta' is better off dead and start over?

mistakes happen every day, all the time, this is just one more, imho
if this was a stock, shorting would have been easy and brutal

there are a lot of knowledgable folks on SI, and normally you don't ask for a ton of opinions in a development project, but really...
