Isn't a proper balance needed? Our TV-weaned culture is suffering from an overload of unthinking touchy-feeliness. Too much emoting drowns out the thinking.

Sincerity is over- rated. There is a reason that such talk shows are regarded as trash, and that is the utter lack of discretion and dignity of most participants. Oprah, I understand, is one of the best. I have only caught one or two of her shows, and was appalled at the pornography of misery, the rending of peoples' guts in a public forum mainly for purposes of entertainment, of titillation.....
