Elmer - RE: "What would the AMD faithful say if it was Intel who was caught cheating????" Intel's too perfect for that to happen! Did you know the Athlon is faster than the PIII in Intel's own Intel Media Benchmark, the one that includes SSE optimizations? "Why does AMD need to cheat if the Athlon is so fast?" Even without that special .dll file, the Athlon is faster than the PIII.

I believe it can be called optimization just like Intel has its own compiler for SSE. So long the other parameters are kept the same(like disk subsystem, RAM used etc.). BTW, The spec result is pretty impressive. It seems that they really just took those programs used by Intel and run it unmodified on Athlon. Gary
