*OT* Anyone have any comments on Netro (NTRO) IPO. Broadband wireless equipment supplier with LU/Siemens as resellers. Ex-Cisco, Stratacom and P-Com folks involved and excellent VCs. djane

>> I know a bit about that market.

You sure do, Rose; that was a great presentation. You know a lot about Gorilla Gaming, too, as demonstrated by your comparison of visx to Q.

Methinks Merlin better hold on to his magic wand with both hands; he has a contender <g>.

Great post on VISX and QCOM.
I personally had laser surgery on my eyes (3 months ago) and had it with the 4th generation Baush and Lomb Chiron 217 in Canada. In the US, i believe the FDA is still evaluating the 3rd generation Chiron 116 which has not been approved for general use. That is why a lot of people come to Canada to have the surgery especially if their surgery is considered complex. If one lives near the border, it is wiser to go into Canada to have it with the latest technology. When i had my surgery, there were some Americans also waiting for theirs from all over the US.

I would note that The Laser Centre which has branches in Canada and USA, uses primarily the Chiron 217 in Canada and has no choice but to use the FDA approved laser in the US (which may be VISX). Up here almost every laser surgery place uses the B&L Chiron 217 unless it is determined that for certain exceptions VISX is appropriate. Personally, i would not consider anything else.

Sorry, i don't mean to get too off topic but thought i would post my personal experience. I don't mind giving more information if someone considering laser surgery sends me a PM.

Now to QCOM---What exactly is the battle with Ericson. Are these two companies the ones that are offering competing cell phone standards? Are there other major players. I noticed that on the back of my "Sony" cell phone----there is a Qualcomm label. That is what made me take more notice of Q---and also thanks to some friends who post on the Gorillas and Kings thread.

Considering it is a high PE stock, it still held up in the midst of the internet selloff--along with the news of insider sales. Unbelievable.
