I am not alarmed at all by trade deficit..but by budget deficit..
-I know you aren't because you like government bookkeeping..that little social security fund..gee if only I could buy my own paper..
but sincerely..I would love to see how much profit say a salton makes
on one of those george foreman grills and how much the Chinese actually make..
or how much a compaq makes versus the producer in china

Right now you have the yen at 111 to the dollar which is going to put strain on American Imports.

The cause of the Asian crisis was over evaluation in assets correct?
Corporate Japan is is doing exactly what the US did four years ago
By letting the Asian market dictate asset value internally and leaving their currency alone they could end up in much better shape than we are IMHO

This could create greater stress on our dollar as other nations move towards creating their own technology .
