This could be a stupid question but......
In trying to burn a CD I noticed a couple things.
First of all the CD I was copying said it was at full capacity, so when I tried to copy it, my CD burner returned an error message saying that there was not enough space left to completely copy the source CD. I thought I would try a CD-RW but apparently the capacity of that CD-rom is even less than a conventional CD-R, so I was out of luck there too.

Oh ya....my question. This was a game I was making a copy of. Do the manufacturers purposely fill the entire CD to thwart back-ups? And is there a way around this?

TIA,
bk
