Well, we broke $3 today on the futures market! Checkout - charts.quotewatch.com

The rise is credited to the GOM tornados (so kudos to PG for pointing this out to us). However, one comment that I heard today on CNBC was, I think, more significant. Apparently NG output in the GOM is down 5% year on year. Given the fine balance between supply and demand, I think this is pretty significant (especially as my drilling-lag theory suggests that the low point in output is still a quarter or so away).

As far as I'm concerned, the futures market can continue to focus on these "short term" issues. So long as NG gets up to $4, I don't care what logic is used!
