Martin,

Your mention of Lycos' plans is a point well taken. It is also refreshing to see a post which highlights the purpose of this thread.

Lycos is well positioned to take advantage of their reach and provide some competition for Hypermart. Though they are not the only dog in this fight. Hypermart plans are to offer end to end services ranging from $50.00/month to $200.00/month if I remember correctly. It is paramount that Go2Net execute their plans quickly and efficiently. The recent purchases ( Dogpile ), growing reach, and financial resources has positioned the company effectively. They must execute!

Also, anybody notice the MANY Go2net ads for various Go2net sites and promotions ( credit card ). I know this is great in terms of spreading the users around to other properties and such, BUT... Does this mean the anemic growth rate in advertising clients has continued? Remember the 5% quarter to quarter growth from March to June? This also may have represented the seasonal slowdown in net activity. The earnings report in October will be very interesting in this regard. Remember, the top 10 sites are supposed to receive 85% of all advertising.

Just some rambling thoughts... ( Oh...I'll take an x-large T-shirt)
