try becoming a member of Gilder's sight for background, too. Imo, it's important.

T2, Read old Gilder articles on Q. They invented and own the CDMA standard being implemented. Everybody must pay them a royalty.

t2000 -

Good to see you over here. what about old softee love to hear you views.

As far as teh standards battle is concerned I believe most of the steam went out of the battle as such when the settlement with ERICY was made earlier this year. I think now that the main players in the future mobile business are:-

ERIC, NOKA, MOT and the Q (in reverse order). I sort of lost the detailed technical plot but I think that ETSI wants to settle on a standard and so do the companies I've mentioned. The FCC doesn't seem to be so keen to get a standard settled. There appears to be a little more agreement amopng the companies than among the regulatory bodies about the final standard for 3G and its compatibility with existing systems.

Anyway thats what I've gleaned without going into it too deeply because as I say the regulators seem to take a long time to get anywhere and it gets very technical.

Try a search on ETSI on this thread it may pull up some articles on the topic.

Best regards,

L

Tech--I thought they were going to add the "search this subject only" to the new SI, but it's still on the old SI. So with this thread up, do that and put "CDMA battle" or "standards battle" some such--all posts with those words will come up.
